Ownership and Management
CITA Aruba VBA is owned and managed by Ms. Kathy Scholliers. Kathy was born in Brussels, Belgium and lives and works since 2010 in Aruba.
She holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Applied Economic Sciences, with a focus on Accountancy and Audit, from the Brussels University in Belgium, and is a Registered Public Accountant at the “Instituut der Bedrijfrevisoren – registration number A-02283) in Belgium. Thereto, she took an oath before the Court of Justice in Brussels in April 2010. In May 2024, Kathy achieved the Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) certification, further expanding her expertise in regulatory compliance. Over the years, she has undertaken numerous advanced seminars and training courses from reputable global institutions such as the Federal Reserve, IMF, and World Bank, emphasizing continuous professional development in corporate governance, internal and external audit, risk management, banking supervision, and financial stability.
Kathy is an accomplished financial expert and seasoned leader with over two decades of experience in regulatory compliance, (financial) supervision, and auditing. Until mid-2024, she worked as the Head of Risk & Compliance at Aruba Bank N.V. Before taking on this leadership role at Aruba Bank N.V., Kathy worked for 11 years at the Centrale Bank van Aruba (CBA) where she ultimately fulfilled the role as Head of the Prudential Supervision Department (Banks) at the CBA. Prior to Kathy's tenure at the CBA, a solid foundation in auditing was built through almost 9 years at Deloitte.
In a nutshell, Kathy has a 360-degree background and experience as external auditor, supervisor, and banker (in the area of Risk & Compliance) which provides her with a solid understanding and knowledge of the applicable regulations, best practices, operational needs, and areas of improvement.
